STAT - Standing Tall and Talented

STAT CLUB -- STANDING TALL AND TALENTED.

In this project, boys in grades 3-5 will join the STAT club. STAT, or Standing Tall and Talented, is a series of books by basketball superstar Amar’s Stroudemare. In these 4 books, Amar’e  writes about basketball, true, but more importantly, he writes about character. Putting others first, being responsible, standing up for the right thing are all discussed. In STAT club, the boys will read these books, and talk about the character traits Amar’e exhibits, as well as how it connects to their own lives. At the end of each book, the boys will write a summary of  the book, aswell as their personal connections. The summaries will be shared in the parent newsletter sent home, allowing the families to see how reading can enrich student lives, as well as shape their character.

This grant was awarded to Andrew J. Townsend School #39 by the Rochester Education Foundation in 2013. It allowed over 20 boys to recieve an entire Amare Stoudemire book collection.

THIS GRANT IS AVAILABLE AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, AND IS TYPICALLY DUE IN NOVEMBER.
